Defense Minister Walker San Miguel, announced that Bolivia will host the Ninth Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas to be held in 2010 in Santa Cruz, drew the objectives of contributing to peace and strengthen the security of the region against illegal.

San Miguel reported that it will host defense ministers from 34 countries and nearly 700 delegates, including military, civilian and experts. The conference will be willing to have an atmosphere of dialogue and consultation, seeks to build up hemispheric mechanisms to promote cooperation to strengthen security in the region, the joint fight against illegal as drug trafficking, terrorism and smuggling. "Everything for contributing to a climate of peace in the Americas," added the minister of Bolivia. 
is also expected that the meetings are to increase knowledge about emergency care and defense civil, encourage civil-military relations, in addition to strengthening the civilian leadership of the Armed Forces.
